I Art You Malaysia! Check out these beautiful Merdeka and Malaysia Day artworks created by 200 Malaysian school children from Melaka and Sarawak. Their artwork will also be transformed as a collage outside KLCC on 31st August! Find them on display at Galeri PETRONAS in KLCC too.

Art has the power to bring people closer together, and Galeri PETRONAS has exactly that in mind. In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, about 200 school children from all over Melaka and Sarawak came together to illustrate what they love best about the country. These works of art is then transformed into a large mural in front of KLCC. Follow Lez Ann as she goes around collecting the paintings from excited young children. 

Watch to see how these works of art form a huge surprise in time for the celebrations.

                                        

55 Tahun kemerdekaan... Kontroversi & Trivia...

Perayaan 55 tahun kemerdekaan akan menjadi satu lagi sejarah yang mungkin akan dilihat pahit oleh generasi seterusnya dan pelbagai spekulasi akan berlaku pada masa akan datang jika tiada tindakan susulan di ambil.

Kontroversi 55 tahun kemerdekaan bermula apabila...

Tema Kemerdekaan

Janji Ditepati pernah digunakan oleh BN melalui Jelajah Janji Ditepati dan digunakan semula pada  tema kemerdekaan kali ini dengan perspektif dan maksud yang berbeza. Akan tetapi kebanyakan rakyat melihat ianya adalah salah satu kempen BN dalam memenangi hati rakyat. Disebabkan itu, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) menggunakan moto yang berbeza iaitu "Sebangsa, Sejiwa dan Senegara" dan akan digunakan di negeri-negeri yang diperintah oleh PR. Kedah mengambil pendekatan yang berbeza dengan menggunakan tema "55 tahun merdeka terus berbakti". Walaupun Kedah merupakan negeri yang ditadbir oleh PR, ia tidak menggunakan tema yang telah dipersetujui oleh Jawatankuasa Tema Kemerdekaan PR atas sebab tema tersebut telah dibuat awal.

Logo Kemerdekaan

Mungkin atas dasar penjimatan kerajaan, tiada lagi pertandingan mencipta logo kemerdekaan 55 tahun dan logo yang pernah dipaparkan sebelum ditukar bukanlah logo akan tetapi seperti membuat banting (banner) kemerdekaan sahaja. Kini menggunakan logo 1 Malaysia sebagai logo sebelum ada perubahan yang lain. (jika ada).

Lagu Tema - Janji Ditepati (Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan ke-55) Lirik dan Video

Dikatakan diciplak dari lagu kristian walaupun disangkal oleh komposer yang bertanggungjawab. Dikatakan jua lirik tidak menggambarkan semangat perpaduan dan kecintaan kepada negara. Penulis lirik juga mengkritik lirik lagu tersebut. Panel penilaian sedang membuat kerja mereka. Tunggu dan lihat sahaja apa kata mereka.

Trivia:

• 3 tema berbeza untuk kemerdekaan kali ke 55 dengan 1 tema dari kerajaan dan 2 tema daripada PR.
• Keranamu Malaysia adalah tema hari kebangsaan yang paling lama sekali digunakan iaitu selama 6 tahun bermula pada 2000 - 2006
• 3 kali logo 1 Malaysia digunakan sebagai logo kemerdekaan dengan tema yang berbeza.

Turtles, migrating wizards of the deep As you read this, thousands of marine turtles are making their way across the Coral Triangle’s oceans, following currents, nibbling at corals, grazing on seagrass, or seeking a partner.

Trouble on the Reef 14 years ago, WRI concluded that our coral reefs were in a worrying condition from reckless human behaviour. Now, things remain sadly grim for the Coral Triangle, despite a sliver of hope.

First established as 'SKEF' (Somalia Kids Education Fund) in mid 2008, co-founders Deborah Henry and Shikeen Halibullah began by providing weekly English and Mathematics tuition to a small group of Somali refugee children. In May 2009, they met Shafie Mohamed, who had been running a centre (Save Education Centre) that taught English, Mathematics and Somali to a few individuals within the refugee community with the ability to pay RM80 per month. Deciding to come together and combine their operations, Fugee School was born and has since grown into an education hub with over 100 students who study life-changing subjects for free - from Mathematics to Art and Sustainable Development. 

Fugee School is an education hub for refugee kids in Malaysia that lives to empower the minds of refugee children with education which will one day allow them to make decisions for themselves and have the right to a bright future - a privilege all children should have.
